A complete gold post-medieval posy ring, dating to the period AD 1700-1800. It has a D-shaped band with a flat inner side and a plain exterior. The interior is inscribed with a 'posey': 'Godly love will not remove' followed by a stamped makers mark, the letter written in lower case e in bracket.
The finger ring measures 20.65mm in diameter, is 1.8mm thick and weighs 3.1g.
Posy rings were popular love tokens and were often exchanged as betrothal or wedding gifts. They could have plain exteriors or be ornately decorated with enamel. Some like this example have maker's marks on the…

Post medieval (probably 17th century) ?gold/ ?silver posy ring, inscribed: no frend to fayth. It is 22.8mm in diameter (internal 20mm) and weighs 4.85g.
The band is an elongated D-shape in section, curved ont he outside edge.
The metal is perhaps a mixture of gold and silver due to its light-gold colour.
