A gold finger ring of Post Medieval to Modern date (c. AD 1700-2000). The finger ring is made from a single strand of gold wire, regularly twisted around its entire circumference and with both ends joined by solder. There is very little wear on the ring and there are no maker's marks or hallmarks. The band has a regular width of c. 1.17mm and regular thickness of c. 1.15mm. Description: A complete gold ring with silver coating on the outer face. The inside of the hoop is flat whilst the outside of the hoop is concave. A complete gold seal matrix dating to the Post Medieval to Early Modern period (c. AD 1750-1900). The object has a heptagonal handle with an integral suspension loop at the apex. The handle has evenly spaced longitudinal channels running from a collar below the suspension loop down the handle to just above the matrix setting. A rounded knop crowns the suspension loop. The seal matrix itself is made of a black stone with the initials DE in black script in the centre of the matrix.
