Post Medieval finger ring: The finger ring is a gold mourning ring which is circular in plan and a slender rectangle in section. The exterior edges are have a fine, linear beaded border. Either side of a central inscription there are three linear, horizontal ridges. The inscription in the centre is written in high-relief Roman capitals. Around each letter there are fine striations which suggest enamelled probably filled the field around the high-relief letters. The finger ring is complete, consisting of a decorated hoop, and a trapezoidal, projecting bezel. The hoop, which is slightly distorted, has a slender D-shaped section, is decorated either side of the bezel. The decoration consists of three low-relief chevrons pointing towards the bezel.
