A gold posy ring of 16th-17th century date. The ring is of large heavy hoop, of D-section, with plain exterior and inscribed on the inside in capitals I * LIKE * MY * CHOYE. The inscription retains much of the original black enamel. The final word 'choice' is interpreted in the treasure report as being misspelt, with the letter 'C' omitted. However, there is also the possibilty that a line under the 'Y' was intended as a sub-script 'C'. The ring is of 22.5mm external diameter with a band width of 7mm. It weighs 11.13g

A small fragment of gold strip tapering to a tongue-shaped terminal, where it has been pierced, slightly off-centre. The piercing has been carried out from the slightly less dull side. The piece is very weathered, and there is some cracking across the width where it seems to have been folded. Surviving length 38.5mm; maximum surviving width 10.5mm; thickness less than 0.5mm; weight 1.63 grams. A fragment of gold strip tapering to a narrow, rounded end which is pierced, pushing excess gold through to the back. The long edges are flattened. The broken edge appears to be torn. The piece is slightly crumpled and distorted. Length 21.2mm; width 9.5mm; thickness 0.5mm at edge; weight 0.86 grams. Non-destructive X-ray flourescence analysis of the fragment indicated a surface composition in the range of 87-90% gold, 8-10% silver and less than 1% copper. A folded fragment of sheet gold strip with a narrower strip threaded through and wrapped. Maximum length 13mm; width of wider strip 6mm; thickness 3mm as folded; width of narrow strip 2.5mm; weight 1.43 grams. Non-destructive X-ray fluorescence analysis of the surface indicated a gold content for both of 86-89%, a silver content of 8-10% and at least 1% copper. Treasure case 2004 T19: Disclaimed A gold finger ring with thin rectangular section hoop, somewhat distorted but complete. The hoop is soldered somewhat crudely to a rectangular bezel. An enamelled gold posy ring. This ring has a thin hoop with foliate decoration on the exterior bearing remains of red, green and white enamel. The interior bears and inscription: 'Let vertue bee a guide to thee', and a maker's mark, PR, within a double oval. This is a commonly found inscription that remained popular well into the 18th century. The decoration too is consistent with a date in the 18th century. An enamelled gold memorial ring. This ring with its monogram in gold wire beaneath a faceted stone, foliate ornament of the shoulder in black enamel and decoration in back and white enamel on the underside of the bezel, is a characteristic type of the late 17th and early 18th century. Examples in the British Museum bear dated inscriptions from around 1690 to 1730. In the absence of such an inscription or an identifiable maker's mark, there is no evidence to date this ring pre 1705. The stone is cracked (Judy Rudoe, British Museum, 10th October 2005).

A 9th century Anglo-Saxon gold ring weighing 1.8g. The loop, which is badly bent, is a thin round-sectioned band, flattened and widening towards the bezel. On the shoulder there is a decoration of minute dots, emphasizing the triangular shape obtained, subdivided into three small triangular fields. The bezel of the ring is round, slightly bent at the lower edge, 1 cm in diameter. The bezel has a double frame: around a plain frame there is a scalloped border, which originally would have been set off by niello.

A gold strap fitting from a scabbard or sword-belt, set with cloisonné garnet and opaque pale blue glass over pointillé gold foil. The strap mount is in the form of a truncated pyramid with squared-off edges. The top and the lower edge of one side of the fitting are damaged and the cell work is slightly distorted. The surface is also partially covered with earth making it sometimes difficult to assess if cells are empty or not. A medieval gold finger-ring with a circular bezel containing a miniature representation of an open book. Lines of text on the open pages of the book are represented by horizontal engraved lines. The shoulders of the ring are engraved with what may be intended as animal heads. The ring probably dates to between the 13th and 15th centuries. Diameter: 21mm. The find therefore qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996 in terms of both age and precious metal content (Beverley Nenk, Dept Prehistory and Europe, British Museum, 6th February 2006).

A medieval gold finger-ring. The hoop is engraved with a black letter inscription, alternating with sprigs of foliage and a lozenge design, against a hatched ground. The inscription is difficult to decipher, but may read 'cest + en bone [?] foy' ('it is in good faith') or 'C'est en amour' ('it is in love). The hoop is of D-shaped section, the internal band slightly damaged. The ring may have been a marriage ring or love token, and probably dates to the 15th century.
