Probable ingot. Gold bar, with irregular, sub-triangular section, pitted on two faces and smooth on the convex third, rounded at one end, shallow angled cuts on the opposing pitted faces before a granular break at the other. Surviving length 50mm. Section 6 x 7mm. Weight 21.1g. Undated but very probably ancient (over 300 years old).

Two pieces of gold metal working debris or ingots. - bar, round sectioned at one end, hammered on two faces for most of its length creating a rectangular section with convex sides, with irregular granular breaks at both ends. Surviving length 24mm. Diameter at round end 7.5mm. Weight 12.63g. - octagonal sectioned bar hammered and broken at both ends, and bent at one end just before the break. Surviving length 19mm. Surface metal analysis conducted at the British Museum indicated an approximate gold content of 79%. The ingot weighs 58.2 grams. The ingot is in the form of a narrow bar of flattened oval section with roughly rounded ends; length, 76 mm; width, 10 mm; thickness 6 mm. It is fairly smooth on one side and pitted on the other, especially along one edge. Description: Complete gold ingot, long with rounded ends and oval cross-section. One surface is smooth with a few large dents; the other is pitted with very many small dents. One end is slightly wider and substantially thicker due to a rise in the pitted surface; the smoother surface is fairly flat. The colour is very slightly pale, suggesting a relatively impure gold.
