Gold rotating dorsal muff from a torc. A composite ring constructed of six components comprising two broad semi-circular-sectioned concentric hollow ribs (or tubes) between three narrow twisted wires (probably square-sectioned) soldered to a sheet inner part. The twisted wires appear very worn. The surface of the inner sheet has concentric wear and scratches where the separate parts of the torc were twisted together. External diameter 24mm. 17th Century gold posy ring. Band consisting externally of ten circular bosses with corded borders. Between each boss on both sides of the band are smaller round knops. The flat internal surface is inscribed 'God gives in crease to Loue and peace'. The 's' of crease is very elongated and almost in the form of an f missing the cross bar. The tail of the letter 'p' extends backwards to underline the last two letters of 'and'. See Oman (1974, plate 58 c) for a very similar example with a different inscription. Fragment of gold sheet strip, one straight end complete, the other missing. Throughout its length one long edge is folded over by 1 - 1.5mm. Gold puzzle ring in the form of two linked rings, now distorted, of square section, each with a twist at one point where there are also signs of wear. This is almost certainly a puzzle ring, usually formed of multiple hoops, secured with a central twist, often forming the bezel. Gold finger-ring. Partly squashed irregular hexagonal bezel of carinated profile set with a purplish blue stone (probably a sapphire) en cabochon. The distorted and incomplete flat-sectioned hoop is decorated with engraved chevrons alternating with groups of tiny punched annulets. The decoration of the hoop is similar to that on a ring with irregular pentagonal bezel found at Whitstable, Kent (Dalton 1912, 253, cat. no. 1773; Oman 1974, 93, pl. 14B). CURATOR'S REPORT Description of object Penannular gold ring of roughly circular section but with a flattened inner surface. The terminals are almost flat. There is no evidence of decorative bands of differing colours of gold. There is a transverse groove near one terminal, perhaps deliberate, which has exposed a copper alloy core. Late Bronze Age, c.1150 - c.750 BC. External diameter 16mm; Internal diameter 5.5mm; Weight 7.21g.

Gold fragment, probably of a late Roman finger ring. A lozengiform setting, now empty, with a border of gold pellets around the outer edge, with clusters of projecting pellets at intervals. The backplate has been cut to fit the projecting pellets, except where it extends slightly beyond the setting at one corner of the lozenge, which may have been part of the shoulder of the ring, and at the opposite corner, where the breaks are ragged. Fragment, probably from an Iron Age torc or bracelet, or a Roman bracelet. Two circular-sectioned strands of gold, each tapering slightly from one cut end to the other, twisted around each other. Total length 39mm. Diameter of strands at narrow end circa 2.5mm, diameter at the thicker end circa 3.5 - 4mm. Weight 7.5g. For potentially similar examples see PAS-845331 (Iron Age torc), SWYOR-CFE7F7 (Iron Age bracelet) and a 3rd-century bracelet in the collections of the British Museum (museum number 1883,1213.375).
