Incomplete Late Saxon sheet gold finger ring. Consisting of a flat pointed oval bezel with a jagged transverse break at either end. Punched decoration over all the surviving surface comprises series of punched annulets. The underside is undecorated. Both faces are heavily scratched. Dimensions: Length: 19mm, maximum width: 12mm, minimum width: 4.2mm, thickness: 1mm, weight: 1.2g. Date: c. AD 851 - 1000. Medieval gold gem set finger ring. Double bezel in the form of two oval settings positioned side-by-side. One is set with a red stone (probably ruby or garnet). The stone is cut so that the upper face is flat. The other bezel is set with a piece of turquoise, the upper face rounded. Both bezels have been moulded into a quatrefoil shape by recessing four semi-circles around the edge of the setting.
