17th Century gold posy ring. Band consisting externally of ten circular bosses with corded borders. Between each boss on both sides of the band are smaller round knops. The flat internal surface is inscribed 'God gives in crease to Loue and peace'. The 's' of crease is very elongated and almost in the form of an f missing the cross bar. Gold puzzle ring in the form of two linked rings, now distorted, of square section, each with a twist at one point where there are also signs of wear. This is almost certainly a puzzle ring, usually formed of multiple hoops, secured with a central twist, often forming the bezel. Description: Gold hook element from a dress fastener, of composite construction, consisting of a hook (now incomplete) and an applied plate made from several elements. A post-medieval gold finger ring with a flat-sectioned hoop, complete but distorted. Externally the hoop is moulded with four quatrefoils, some of which retain white enamel, each with a pair of ridges to either side, the inner pair curved with a pointed outside edge, the outer set crescent-shaped. A gold posy ring with a shallow D-sectioned band which is undecorated externally, and inscribed internally In thy sight is my delight followed by a stamped maker's mark within a square, possibly JD. The D is clear, but the first letter of the maker's mark is less certain. The band is now distorted, and slightly damaged at points along the edges. A gold finger ring, now distorted. A mourning ring with a shallow D-sectioned band, decorated with a simple stylised skull with teeth, eye sockets and nasal cavity, but missing the mandible. Two tiny particles of black may be all that remains of black enamel, but thet are too small to be certain. Inscribed internally RH oB 17 ° oct 87 (RH died 17th October 1687). A gold posy ring, D-shaped in section. Inscribed internally 'Loue i,s' the bond of peace' with a stamped, worn makers mark consisting of HB (ligatured) stamped in relief within a square. Tiny traces of possible niello survive in some of the letters. The marks on either side of the s may be unintentional as, although clear, they are slightly irregular. The lettering is similar to that on an example from Firle, East Sussex (Treasure Annual Report 2004, 296, fig. 315), dated 1696. External diameter 20mm, internal diameter 16.5mm. Width of band 4mm Weight 5.24g.

Gold posy ring, inscribed 'remember mee'. There are traces of black enamel left in the inscription. It is a very charming piece being so small in size, but as it is otherwise plain and bears no assay marks, it is very difficult to date with any accuracy. There is certainly no evidence to date it pre-1700, and it is most likely to be 18th century. It does not therefore fall within the Treasure remit.
