Object type: FINGER RING
Broad period: MODERN
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Gold finger ring. Formed from two bands of twisted wire, one slightly wider than the other, and then hammered almost flat on the outside edge and two sides. The internal face retains the rounded shape of the wires and is only slightly worn. Probably post-medieval although no close parallels have been found, may date as recently as 20th Century. External diameter 20mm. Internal diameter 17mm. Width of band 2mm. Weight 1.16g. The finger ring cannot be securely dated to pre-1710 and as such falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996. Erica Darch
