A gold Cut Aureus of Probus dating to AD 276-282, dating to c. AD 281 (Reece Period 14). Mint of Rome. RIC V, pt 2, p. 32, no. 141-2var. The reverse type is recorded for RIC 141-2; the obverse legend is recorded for RIC 142, but the obverse type is recorded for neither entry.
Obverse: [IMP PRO]BVS AVG, laureate and cuirassed bust left, holding spear in right hand over right shoulder.
Reverse: VICTORIA GERM; Trophy between two captives.
