The outside of the band is decorated with engraved designs of a poppy, a rose and a thistle with a black background (in enamel). The bezel consists of a skull and crossbones picked out in white enamel. It is in very good condition and all the detail is very clear. The design is significant of the times and represent certain things. The rose is for England, the thistle for Scotland (and the Stuarts) and the poppy for Holland.

A medieval finger-ring consisting of a flattened hoop and a raised pyramidal bezel. The bezel has a rectangular setting at its apex designed to contain a purple stone (probably an amethyst), which is now loose. The bezel has received some damage at its base. The stone was found loose inside the bezel suggesting that some sort of organic material which has decayed held it in place.

A small fragment of gold, dished and decorated on the outside of the curve, possibly broken from some kind of vessel. The decoration appears to be a plant design, of probable late medieval date. The inner side is undecorated. The exact character of the object is uncertain. There is no reason to doubt that this object meets the 10% threshold required by the Treasure Act, or that it is more than 300 years old. As such it therefore qualifies as Treasure under the terms of the Act.
