Curator's report: Two thin gold interlinked bands, rectangular in cross-section, tapering towards hook and eye terminals. Possibly earrings.

Dimensions: Diameters 7.5 and 9.0mm; Weight: 0.89g.
Metal content: The object is made up of 84 - 87 % gold, 10-13 % silver, and 1% copper.

A Post Medieval gold finger ring - memento mori (1670-1740). The plain thin gold band is engraved on the exterior with a skull and inscribed inside in lower case: 'Remember to dye', with a maker's mark GB in a quatrefoil shield with a pellet above and below. This type of ring had a long life from around 1670 to the 1730s, but as the mark is not listed in the standard London goldsmiths' marks sources, it is not possible to confirm a pre-1708 date for this ring. A gold fragment of an artefact of an undiagnostic date. The fragment comprises a loop made from a flat strip of gold from which two broken strands project creating an incomplete figure of eight in appearance. At the junction between the strip and the broken projections an incomplete cinquefoil has been soldered to the front. The surface of the strip is decoratively cast with a twisted rope motif.
Dora Thornton and Judy Rudoe has had a look at this and they can't place what it is but believe it is undiagnostic.

A Post Medieval - possibly Modern gold button (late 16th - early 19th century).
Small gold button in the shape of a flowerhead, perhaps a daisy, with solid centre and petals forming shallow compartments filled with a composition, perhaps glass inlay, some of which is now missing. Single loop attachment in gold at the centre of the back. Approximately 0.7 cm diameter.
This naturalistic flowerhead button is difficult to place. The fine tooling on front suggests age and the working at the back, together with uneven outline, suggests that it has been hand cut not stamped. The …

A gold object, probably a distorted finger ring of uncertain date.
Curator's report: A strip of bright yellow pitted gold that has been bent six times forming three rough (un-unintended) loops. The edges of some sections appear to have been worked, being slightly rounded.
Discussion: This strip of gold is long enough to have fitted round a small finger but there are no diagnostic features that could provide a date.
Conclusion: Due to the undiagnostic nature of the find it can not be securely dated to pre-1708 and as such falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996

The slide is oval and has been cast with an integral wall on the upper surface creating a cell which originally may have contained enamel or cloth. On the reverse are two integral loops; similar examples within the Museum of London were designed to be worn on a ribbon as a 'Memento Mori' bracelet.
