A complete cast gold finger ring of post-medieval date (c.1700-1800). Description: The ring is now slighlty squashed but would have been circular in plan. It is rectangular in cross-section and the same width all the way around the band. The band is composed of alternating simple moulded scrolls and ovals. The scrolls are engraved with curving lines which follow the shape of the scrolls while the ovals are engraved with a ring and a saltire, in turn creating quartrefoils at their centres. A worn cast gold inscribed finger-ring or 'posie or posy' dating to the 17th century. Description: The hoop is circular in plan, D-shaped. The inscription, which runs around the internal circumferences, is in lower case and reads '__In begin so let us end' it is followed by the makers mark 'WG'. The beginning of the inscription may be missing but it isn't certain. The band shows some abrasion with small nicks around the loop.
