Gold finger ring with a D-shape cross-section hoop. The flat inside is engraved with the inscription 'As . God . Hath . apointed . so . am . I . contented'. The outside curved edge is undecorated. Originally circular this finger ring is now slightly squished. Discussion: Two examples are recorded on the British Museum database which have a similar inscription albeit with slight variations on the spelling 1961,1202.201 As God hath appoynted I am contented' and 1961,1202.202 '* 8 As . god hath apoynted, so am I Contented' and have been given a general 17th-18th century date.
