Gold roman finger ring that has a triple oval bezel consisting of a large central oval box setting that has beaded wire running around its base and large pellet soldered onto the outside edge of each corner. Flanking the central oval are two smaller oval boxes, again each surrounded by beaded wire, on the shoulder of one of the smaller ovals are soldered a trefoil of beads, scaring on the side of the other small bezel suggests a similar arrangement that has been subsequently lost. Roman gold finger ring of a Henig Type V that dates to the second half of the 2nd century. This has a raised oval domed integral bezel that imitates a stone or intaglio, this has been inscribed with the letters VF. The shoulders are undecorated and narrow from the bezel to the thin rectangular cross-section hoop. Dr Roger Tomlin (pers. comms) has commented that VF would be an abbreviation of 'u(tere) f(elix), there being a good parallel in a bronze ring from Southwark (RIB II.3, 2423.28), which reads VT F on the bezel' VTERI FELIX is a common inscriptional formula on items fro…

Description: Cast gold annular ear ring. This is roughly sub rectangular in plan with a lozenge-shaped cross-section. The ring is widest at its mid point and tapers towards a point at either terminal, both points overlap by 5mm, but are not fixed together in anyway. Discussion: There is a parallel for this form of ear-ring in Lindsay Allason-Jones: 'Ear-rings in Roman Britain', no. 35. Distorted and crushed Roman gold finger ring of keeled type. Each carinated shoulder is decorated with a triangular motif consisting of three shallow incised lines.
