Description of Find
The ring is substantially gold and consists of a broad, punch-decorated band tapering sharply at each end to wire terminals which were originally twisted together; width, 26 mm. CURATOR'S REPORT
16th -17th century Fragmentary gold signet ring from 'Clifton area', Nottinghamshire
Description
Personal signet-ring, with faceted shoulders, the back half of the hoop missing, the octagonal bezel finely engraved with a clear coat-of-arms, crest and mantling, within a dotted border. Reverse of bezel stamped with maker's mark, 'B' in a shield.

Post medieval button; incomplete cast gold button. The fragment consists of a roughly circular back plate with an integral loop of gold wire in the centre at the back. The plate is raised around the edge to form a collar for a stone setting. The collar is decorated on the exterior with a repeating line of semi-circles. The interior of the setting has rough scratch marks across the base plate (presumably to key the fixant for the stone or glass fitting) and traces of a dark blue-black material around the edges. The stone is now missing.
