A gold early medieval finger ring of the Viking period (c. 1000-1100). The ring is made of a curved rod with a rectangular cross-section and bevelled edges. The rod is wider (c. 4 mm) at the centre and tapers to the back where the ends are drawn into wires (2 mm in diameter) which overlap and are wound once round each other. Overall, the ring has an external diameter of 24 mm and an internal diameter of 17 mm. It weighs 8.56 g. An incomplete medieval, gold gem-set finger ring (c. 1250 - 1450). The ring is broadly circular but the back of the hoop (opposite the bezel) has been flattened slightly. The bezel is formed by four, circular, collared recesses for settings, arranged in a rectangle. The bezel measures 9.4mm long, 8.5mm wide and 3.7mm thick. Between the outer edge of each collared recess is a pointed knop. Three of the settings remain extant, the fourth is missing.
