A gold early medieval finger ring of the Viking period (c. 1000-1100). The ring is made of a curved rod with a rectangular cross-section and bevelled edges. The rod is wider (c. 4 mm) at the centre and tapers to the back where the ends are drawn into wires (2 mm in diameter) which overlap and are wound once round each other. Overall, the ring has an external diameter of 24 mm and an internal diameter of 17 mm. It weighs 8.56 g. TREASURE CASE 2014 T198: A complete gold finger ring of uncertain date. The finger ring is comprised of a plain circular band which is rectangular in section. The finger ring is undecorated and appears crudely made with the band being of varying irregular width along its circumference. Such simple plain rings cannot be readily dated due to a lack of diagnostic features. Dimensions: Dimensions: 17mm diameter external and 15mm internal, the band varies from 3.5-4mm wide and is 0.7-0.8mm thick, weight: 2.5g.

TREASURE CASE: 2013 T466 Description: A gold medieval pendant roundel with a square shaped central bezel set with an amethyst. The pendant frame has been formed from twisted gold wire and has four suspension loops which have been soldered onto the frame. Three of the suspension loops have chain link attachments which would have once held a terminal attachment, possibly a pearl. TREASURE ITEM 2012 T628: Fragment of a gold strip with the longest edge deliberately and neatly folded. The other edges are damaged and are most likely not deliberate. 8mm up from the longest edge is a line of small punched dots such that the folded edge appears on the same side from which the punching has been carried out. TREASURE CASE 2012 T108: Probably Early Medieval (Viking) gold ingot/hack gold, dated to the mid 8th to mid 11th Centuries, AD. C.750-1050. The ingot is roughly sub-rectangular in section and tongue-shaped in plan. The edges between the flat lengthways faces of the ingot are bevelled. This bevelling is wider along two of the edges, giving the ingot a slightly arched appearance in cross-section. A medieval finger-ring, the hoop of triangular section creating two distinct registers along the band. These in turn are divided into four sections by three saltire crosses. Each section is alternately inscribed with letters and symbols or decorated with cabling on the upper or lower half. Small gilded silver annular brooch, pentagonal with a raised circular boss at the centre of four of the sides, and the D-sectioned loop of the pin at the centre of the fifth side. The remainder of the pin is broken off. The circular bosses are decorated with raised pellets - one with 4, one with 3, and two with an uncertain number. The frame is D-sectioned. The reverse is plain and flat.
