The metal has a shiny yellow patina and is worn. The ring is 15.4mm in diameter, 2.7mm wide, 0.6mm thick and weighs 1g. In the absence of metallurgical analysis it is unclear as to whether the metal is gold. Furthermore, due to the undiagnostic nature of the object it cannot be securely dated and, as such, would appear to fall outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.
