TREASURE CASE : 2016 T683. A largely complete but damaged gold armlet of Early Bronze Age date, c. 2100 BC - 1900 BC. It is decorated with embossed patterns and pointillé and belongs to the embossed goldwork tradition (see Needham 2000a). The object is formed from a cylindrical band of sheet metal with no joins in evidence. In cross-section it has a corrugated appearance with six bulbous concentric embossed ribs, four decorating the body and two forming the rims. Treasure report from B.M. Ager: Gold arm ring, cut through and partly straightened into a curved L-shape, but otherwise complete; length, 260 mm (total); diameter, 15 mm at centre and 6 mm at ends. It is made of two thick, round rods with beaded wires between them, twisted into a cable and tapering to the ends. The original ends (now together at one end of the cable because of the cut) are joined to a plain, polyhedral knob and are closely bound with plain wires on either side of it.
