Obverse: Wreath across corded line, hidden face in two angles, stylised cloak and hair in opposite angles. Reverse: Annulate horse right, sunburst above, unclear torc-like motif below. Cf. ABC p. 124, no. 2466, BMC no. 367, although the current example is perhaps a die variant lacking the pellet in ring beneath the horse seen in the ABC and BMC examples.

Gold quarter stater from the Catuvellauni tribe, 'Tasciovanos Quatrefoil' type, dating c.25BC - AD10. Obverse shows alternating four ears of corn and four tear drops surrounding two back to back crescent moons. The whole design is slightly off centre. The reverse shows a central horse facing right with a series of geometric shapes surrounding it, including two pellets either side of the horses head and a collection of three teardrops by its tail. This type of coin is recorded in ABC and noted by the author as extremely rare (Rudd, p.129, no.2583). The coin is 1.37g, 12.87mm diam…
