A medieval gold half noble of Edward III (AD 1327-1377); fourth coinage, pre-Treaty period (1351-61), Class B/A (mule; 1351); mint: London; North 1140. Obverse shows facing king standing in ship holding a quartered shield showing the arms of France and England. The reverse shows a floriated cross with a lys at the end of each limb, a lion in each angle of the cross and a crown above each lion, all contained within an 8 arched tressure.
