A Post-Medieval gold finger-ring. The hoop is circular with a 'D' shaped cross-section being flat on the inner surface and convexly curved on the outer. The finger-ring weigh 5.85g, has an external diameter of 22.4mm. The band that forms the hoop has a width of 3.6mm and thickness of 1.9mm. The external surface is undecorated but dulled by shallow scratches and pits the result of wear while in use and post-depositional damage. A gold finger ring with distorted hoop of 'D-shaped' section, widening from the back to the bezel. Each shoulder is decorated by a series of longitudinal grooves, and there is a grooved central ridge which, at the non-bezel end, terminates in a fork with projecting, tapering groove. A heavily damaged gold finger-ring of post-Medieval date. The convex outer surface of the squashed hoop bears a moulded pattern of decoration, much of which has been deliberately filed off. The remaining portions of the design suggest it comprised a series of quatrefoils interspersed with other elements, including a star within an oval border.
