A distorted, complete gold and garnet finger ring dating to the Roman period, probably the 3rd century AD. Description: The ring has been compressed, giving it an almost pear-shaped profile but was originally polygonal with a raised bezel. The shoulders are expanded and the bezel section rectangular in shape. The bezel has a tear-shaped garnet, set within cell created from reserve metal. The ring band is made from hammered gold. A complete gold Roman polygonal finger ring, AD.200-300. The ring has been distorted but is formed of a series of seven irregular lozenges connected t their narrowest points to form the ring band. Each lozenge is mildly concave though it is hard to determine if this is by design or due to the distortion. The ring is classified as a Henig's type IX.
