The ear ring is made of sheet gold and appears to have been originally cylindrical which tapers slightly to the upper edge. The ear ring or pendant is now crumpled and incomplete as the means of suspension is missing. The outer face is decorated with a repeating motif of a high-relief pellet with a small triangle above, both within a high-relief droplet shaped border. A gold chain and pendant of Roman date. The chain is of a single figure-of-eight looped form (as Johns 1996, 195-6). The gold wire is circular in section and the length of chain is composed of 27 looped wire links. The lower loop of each link is set at 90 degrees to that above and below it. A circa 2nd to 3rd century AD gold pendant, ovoid, set with a blue-grey glass paste intaglio, very worn, pitted and devitrified. The setting has a central rib and all that remains of the attachment is a single gold filigree loop. The intaglio depicts a robed seated figure facing right, holding a sceptre in his right hand and an uncertain object in the left. The figure may represent Jupiter but is too worn to be certain. A Roman sard intaglio set in a gold mount with a loop for suspension. This is a small classical gem of debased style, dating from the third or fourth century A.D. It depicts a seated figure, probably Dea Roma, with helmet, spear, and shield. The stone is one of the sard variety and is enclosed in a gold mount with pearl border and flat gold back, fitted with a broad fluted loop for suspension. A slightly tapering tube with coiled wire decoration attached to it near the wider end and about two-thirds of the way down. The wider end is closed by a flat plate, secured from coming out by the ends of the tube being bent over. The plate now sits at an angle, with one side pushed slightly down the tube, but it would appear that it originally sat square to the end of the tube. Straight, oval sectioned, hollow, formed from sheet metal soldered together lengthways, rounded at the terminal with a small aperture left open at either end. A small gem-set gold pendant comprising a translucent purple oval glass gem, of plano-convex cross-section, set in an oval gold frame 2.3mm wide, encircled by a beaded gold wire. The beading is very neat and regular. There is no backplate to the pendant, allowing the gem to be seen from both faces. The suspension loop, made from a tapered gold strip, is quite rudimentarily attached to the frame and is atypically orientated (running front to back rather than side to side), may have been an ancient repair. A gold solidus of the emperor Theodosius I struck at Milan between 378 and 387 (Roman Imperial Coinage vol. IX, no. 5f or 8b). The coin has been fitted with a ribbed suspension loop, also of gold, at the 12 o'clock position on the obverse (6 o'clock on the reverse) in order for it to serve as a pendant. A Roman gold phallic pendant. The pendant has a substantial grooved suspension loop and a detailed representation of the male organ with testicles and erect penis, the latter with glans penis and urethra. In the hollow between the testicles there is faint evidence of pubic hair.
