Description: A complete cast Roman gold polygonal finger-ring of Henig's type IX, dating to the period AD 200-300. The ring is formed of a circular hoop comprising seven irregular lozenge-shaped facets of similar dimensions, all plain and undecorated. The surface of this ring is roughly finished on the inside and out. Measurements: The finger ring measures 22.9mm in external diameter. The hoop is 7mm wide and 1.6mm thick. A gold jewellery element, possibly a pin fastener from a bracelet dating to the second or third century AD. The element possessess a spherical head. From the underside of the head there extends a circular-section wire loop. The element measures 14mm in length, the head has a diameter of 4mm, the wire a thickness of 1mm. A potential parallel for this jewellery element can be seen in a gold bracelet from the Nikolaevo Treasure, now in the National Museum in Bulgaria (Ruseva-Slokoska 1991, 154, Cat. No. 144a). A second similar but sturdier element is known from the Piercebridge assemblage.

Roman gold finger-ring, much bent and distorted but intact. The hoop consists of a flat strip of sheet-metal, faceted, that widens to triangular shoulders and a flat bezel. The bezel is set with a circular box setting with smaller 'satellite' settings on each corner, only one of which is undamaged. These were presumably originally set, but all the settings are now missing. The main circular setting has been shown by scientific analysis to have had a silver-alloy setting, now much degraded. Description: A damaged gold finger ring of Late Roman date. The hoop is comprised of two separate strands, each extending from beneath its respective shoulder, with one set above the other. Each strand is of 'D-shaped' section and tapers towards its distal end; that of the longer strand now projects outwards from the side of the ring. Gold finger-ring, now rather distorted, composed of a hoop that is circular in profile and ovoid in section. At the top of the ring the hoop splits into two slightly narrower sections of rilled filigree which loop out and back to form an almond-shaped motif when viewed in plan. A distorted sub-oval gold wire ring with an integral loop at one end flanked by small coils of fine gold wire, one damaged. Probably an ear-ring. Date: probably Roman, 1st - 4th century AD. Dimensions: length 31.3 mm; width 14.6 mm; thickness of wire 1.5 mm. Weight: 2.58 g. Non-destructive surface metal analysis conducted at the British Museum indicated a gold content of 87-90% and silver content of 9-11%. In age and precious metal content the object qualifies as Treasure under the terms of the 1996 Treasure Act.
