Gold medieval love or marriage ring. Very finely engraved with flowers and foliage. Note: This object was recorded over 20 years ago and does not meet the current standard of database records for the Portable Antiquities Scheme. Based on the image provided, the exterior of the ring is inscribed in a black letter script reading: "autre", which is likely part of a larger inscription reading "autre ne vueil", meaning 'desire no other', or "nul autre", meaning 'no other'. The inscription is surrounded by incised foliage. Many thanks to Malcol…

Medieval gold finger-ring set with a garnet. The hoop is of very slender proportions - 0.7 x 0.6 mm - but, remarkably, intact and still nearly circular (c. 18-19 mm diameter). The hoop runs right up, without any shoulders, to a conical setting flaring out to accommodate a slightly irregular oval garnet (5.7 x 5.3 mm measured across the claws). This is cut flat across with very narrowly bevelled edges, and is held in place by four simple triangular claws. 12th to 14th century.

Gold posy ring, inscribed 'remember mee'. There are traces of black enamel left in the inscription. It is a very charming piece being so small in size, but as it is otherwise plain and bears no assay marks, it is very difficult to date with any accuracy. There is certainly no evidence to date it pre-1700, and it is most likely to be 18th century. It does not therefore fall within the Treasure remit.
