Gold coin. Quarter stater of the Corieltauvi, as kindly identified by Dr John Sills at the behest of Liz and Chris Rudd, whose opinion was solicited by the finder. John comments as follows: 'It is one of the earliest Corieltavian scyphates, they look a bit like Gallo-Belgic D but often have these characteristic tiny pellets in the reverse field. It's essentially the same type as ABC 1764, 11 others known to date". Suggested date: Late Iron Age, 80-60 BC, Haselgrove Period 2 Phase 4.
