An incomplete medieval gold quarter noble of Edward III (1327-1377) belonging to the Treaty Series (1363-1369). The coin was minted at London. North 1243. Spink 1510. The coin is missing a small portion of the outer between c. 4 o'clock and 5 o'clock where the inscription is now missing.

A Medieval gold quarter-noble of Edward III, dating from AD 1351. Fourth Coinage, Pre-Treaty period, Series B. Mint of London. Cf. North 1991 Vol II, p. 49, no. 1141. This coin is unusual in that there is a spelling error on both legends. The obverse legend reads: EDWAR D G REX ANGL Z FRAE D hYB, rather than FRANC D hYB. The reverse legend reads: EXALTABITVR IN GLLORIA, rather than GLORIA. Cf. PAS database record: HAMP-14B7B8.

Medieval hammered gold coin of Edward III. A treaty period quarter noble (North 1245). Struck by the Calais mint due to the cross in a circle above the shield and the initial mark being a cross potent. Dates from 1363 to 1369 AD. Obverse legend should read EDWARD DEI GRA REX ANGL. The reverse should read EXALTABITUR IN GLORIA. The coin is damaged rather than cut. Judging by the degree of wear, it seems to have been in circulation for a very short period. The length is 19mm, the width is 11mm, and the weight is 0.59g. Additional photographs kindly provided by the finder.
