The spelling mistake in the reverse legend was identified by R L Kenyon who lists this coin as Type 2 of the quarter nobles of 1351-60 (R L Kenyon, 1884, The Gold Coins of England).

A gold quarter noble of Edward III, from the Treaty Period (1361-1369). Only just over two-thirds of this coin remains. The broken edge does not look clipped. It appears to have been damaged recently by something mechanical, perhaps by the ploughshare. The break looks quite scuffed.
