A complete gold finger ring (posy) of post-medieval date (1500-1650).
Description: The ring is broadly rectangular in cross section, appearing to be constructed from two thin sheets of gold, the internal sheet undecorated but bearing an inscription, the external sheet carrying an etched decorative design. This design consists of a row of eight-armed stars, in relief with a single prominent line running the horizontally across the centre of the design, connecting the stars. Obverse: Bust right wearing a pearled diadem and cuirass indicated by dots, pseudo-legend consisting of a large A and v behind head with an N(?) in front. Between them a cross on a flat base. Reverse: Two half figures, seated on throne, stylized Victory/angel above, wings outstretched, groups of three pellets either side of Victory's head.

Description: The once circular hoop of the ring is D-shaped in cross section and widens slightly at the shoulders where it meets the 'Pie dish' bezel. The bezel is irregularly hexagonal in plan and sub-lozenge-shaped in profile, the bottom half being deeper than the top with six distinct facets meeting at a flattened point. Decsription: The hoop of the ring is D-shaped in cross-section and widens sharply to form a triangular bezel which is trapezoidal in profile. The bezel is set with a sub-rectangular cabachon-cut light green blue gemstone, likely sapphire, and bevelled to hold it in place. The edges of the ring show file marks.
