A worn and melted gold disc, probably a Gallo-Belgic A stater. Dimensions: Thickness: 1.9mm; Diameter: 24.2mm; Weight 7.60g Discussion: This item was submitted for consideration as potential Treasure because it was found very close to a previously recorded Roman gold aureus of Trajan (BH-80B838). However, given that the coin is likely to be a Gallo-Belgic A stater dating to the 2nd Century BC, the proximity of its findspot to the gold aureus is thought to be coincidental rather than representational of a group of coins lost at the same time.
