Robertson 2000, 372 no. 1524: "During the excavation of the Romano-Celtic Temple inside the Iron Age hill fort of Maiden Castle: "a small hoard of four gold coins of Arcadius and Honorius found with a gold ring close outside the east wall of the temple (see plan pl. Two gold rings with filigree decoration found with the Terling hoard IARCH-B5E1D0 . According to Robertson 2000, 374 no. 1528: "One of the gold rings was about 3/4 in. in diameter, and was made of a thin strip of gold, ornamented with gold wire. The oval bezel was of paste, with an engraved design which is now too worn to identify. Gold ring associated with 2009 T465 (by R. Hobbs) Gold openwork finger-ring with rectangular gem set bezel. The openwork hoop is of flat and constant width and is rectangular in section. The openwork consists of two strips of opposed ‘zig zag’ wire encased on both sides with flat wire strips and sandwiching a further gold strip in the centre. The shoulders are decorated with scrolls which enclose gold granules at each corner of the box setting. The rectangular box setting has high, thin sides and a surrounding rope flange. Flattened but not seriously damaged. Visible wear on the back of the hoop, but condition of the gold is generally very good. There is an oval box-bezel with a narrow, flat retaining ring containing a repoussé gold plaque with clasped hands within a beaded border. Now very crushed and distorted, the ring has a distinctive construction using thin sheet gold. Three tapering gold tubes are placed side by side, their lengthwise seams visible on the front. The tapered ends are hammered together to produce the narrow, flat hoop. The central tube has a roundish oval opening, one surviving side tube has a small and very narrow elliptical opening, and the other side would have matched, though it is now torn and crushed.
