CORONER'S REPORT
Description of Find
The ring is substantially gold and consists of a broad, punch-decorated band tapering sharply at each end to wire terminals which were originally twisted together; width, 26 mm. On either side of a very worn, beaded median rib the ring is decorated with two rows of interlocking punched triangles with triple pellets in each. The ring has been distorted while in the ground and the ends are now almost untwisted as a result.
Discussion
Both the form of the ring and the punched decoration are typical of Viking jewellery of the late 9th-10th …

Early Medieval gold and garnet setting. Possibly 7th century.
Description of find
Fragment of an early medieval, torn and distorted gold setting, still containing some ?garnet cloisonné. In a separate bag, two tiny garnet fragments and a small fragment of wavered gold foil with an upright cell wall. The gold setting appears to have been one end of an originally ?oval (presuming that it was symmetrical) object. It is set with a square, dark-coloured cabochon glass gem set within a multiple frame made up of an upstanding plain rim edged by two rows of beaded wire. The whole is mounted on a square base-plate. Its back is plain but has an elongated metal tab running diagonally from the damaged corner to the mid point. There is a single rivet hole through the back-plate.
Surface analysis
Gold and silver content of approximately 61-66% amd 30-33% respectively, and confirms the gem as glass.

CURATOR'S REPORT
A gold pendant, incorporating a Visigothic gold tremissis in the name of the Roman Emperor Anastasius I of Byzantium (r.491-518).
Description of find
The coin has been made into a pendant, showing the Victory reverse, probably in England in the 6th or early 7th century, when coin-jewellery of this type was fashionable. It shows two suspension points, which may have been made at the same time. It appears to have a gold suspension loop, but only a small piece now survives; this is plainer than is usual for the period, being a simple flat bar, soldered to one side…

Description: An incomplete gold Anglo Saxon buckle pin of unusual form. The pin is complete and curves downwards whilst tapering gently in width towards its terminal end, it is D-shaped in section, being flat underneath. The terminal end is open and flat and shows that the pin is in fact hollow and now filled with soil. In fact the pin appears to be constructed from two separate sheets of gold, a front sheet bent into a U-shape which is soldered onto a back plate.
The front face of the pin has seven square cells running longitudinally along its centre, each cell very slightly smalle…

A gold 'bulla' pendant of early Anglo-Saxon date. The pendant is circular with a domed centre. The reverse was also domed, but both faces are now dented. A suspension loop is wide and flat and is decorated with two longitudinal grooves, leaving the edges and the centre of the strip raised. The pendant was made from a single piece of sheet metal which was cut into the shape of two circular discs joined by the band now forming the suspension loop. It is likely the grooves on the loop were added next, along with the domes being formed, and then the loop was bent round a form, bringing th…

Detached circular gold and garnet setting. The object has a gold backplate to which is soldered three concentric beaded wires; the outer and inner are very finely beaded and the central wire has larger beads. This is a common arrangement for Anglo-Saxon filigree. Within the innermost beaded ring is a plain collar which rises up the sides and slightly over the top of a circular garnet. This is dirty, and although the flash of the flat top of the garnet can be seen, it is impossible to see if there is a foil beneath. The backplate is featureless apart from a central roughly circular rec…
