An incomplete whetstone, dating from the Bronze Age to Post-Medieval period (c. 2350 BC- 1900 AD). The object is made of a fine-grained, mica-rich sandstone. It is D-shaped in cross-section, with flattened side edges, and is sub-rectangular in plan. It tapers slightly towards its intact terminal, and the other terminal exhibits a worn break. A series of striations are present towards the broken end on the curved face, and a chip is present on one of the flattened side edges. The whetstone has a smooth texture. An incomplete whetstone of a fine-grained micaceous grey stone. The stone has a glittery appearance. It is trapezoidal in shape with one pitted but fairly smooth end and a broken end with jagged edges. The stone is 25mm wide at the smooth end but then bulges slightly to a width of 28mm approximately 15 mm along its length before tapering slightly to width of 22mm at the jagged end. An incomplete, fine-grained sandstone whetstone of unknown date. The object is sub-oval in section and sub-triangular in plan, tapering to a blunt point at one end. The object has broken at one end and the remainder of the whetstone has been lost. Dating of whetstones is difficult as they were used from the Bronze Age to modern times. The object is 80.78 mm in length, 28.42 mm thick (at the base) and 27.57 mm in width. It weighs 93.90g.

Fine-grained compacted Sandstone whetstone fragment. A rectangular-section bar hone fragment, tapered towards a slightly worn wedge shape at one end, broken at the other. One of the broader flat sides is lightly dished by wear and all four sides are smoothed with a reasonably sharp aris where each side meets its neighbour. Fine-grained compacted Sandstone whetstone, as kindly identified by the finder. A narrow boat-shaped fragment of stone, rubbed smooth and flat on its opposed broader faces, and to a lesser extent by wear which has left its narrower sides lightly rounded. Broken at both ends, the larger break probably being recent. The use of varied sharpening stones is characteristic of the period between the Roman-era Iron Age and the Middle Saxon period. Part of a stone pebble, a micaceous metamorphic rock. It seems to be a natural pebble, oval in section, thickening and widening towards the broken end. The complete end is rounded. It is slightly curved in profile with a concave top and convex base. There appears to be some use polish on the concave top. It is made from a grey stone. There are linear grooves on all the surfaces, possibly caused by sharpening tools. Part of the stone has been broken on one of the larger surfaces. It is difficult to say that this is definitely a whetstone as natural stones could be used for this purpose without much working to make them suitable.
