A nearly complete hone or whetstone of undetermined date, probably Medieval or later but an earlier date should not be ruled out. The stone is rectangular in plan, profile and section. An incomplete whetstone of probable Early Medieval or Medieval date (c.800 - 1400). The whetstone is formed from a very fine sedimentary mica rich sandstone or siltstone and bedding planes are clearly visible in the profile. The whetstone is broadly sub-rectangular in plan with parallel sides and sub-rectangular cross section. The edges are slightly bevelled and the top is rounded. Incomplete whetstone of possible Early Medieval or Medieval date (c.800 - 1400 AD). The whetstone is made from a very fine sedimentary mica rich sandstone. It is sub-rectangular in plan with tapering edges, and is broadly rectangular in section. There is a small circular perforated hole (5.2mm diameter) drilled through the narrower top edge; this would have been used to suspend the whetstone from a belt and aid safe keeping. An incomplete stone object, possibly a fragement of a whetstone or honeing stone used for sharpening. What remains of the object is wedge shaped, tapering from 15.82 mm wide at its widest end to 9.33 mm wide at the break. The object has been pierced, possibly for suspension, near the widest end, with a hole measuring approximately 3.6 mm in diameter. The object measures 44.11 mm long, 5.48 mm thick and weighs 5.8 grams. Its date is uncertain.
