An incomplete post medieval bone tool of uncertain function probably dating to c. 1500-1800 and made from a Caprid / Ovid metapodial. The proximal end of the bone has been cut at an oblique angle, possibly to form a scoop. There is a round hole, 6.2mm in diameter cut through one side of the bone, possibly for the insertion of a lanyard. There is no other evidence of working or decoration. Possibly intended for use as an apple corer or perhaps a fid for rope splicing or basketry.
