A Medieval bone tuning peg probably dating from AD 1200 - 1500. The tuning peg has a sub-circular sectioned shank with a perforation at one end, through which the instrument string would have passed. At the opposite end the cross-section changes to a sub-rectangular shape approximately 12mm from the end. The object is sub rectangular in plan and in cross section with a chamfered edge to the upper surface and a flat underside. One end is broken.
