Four body sherds of differing vessels, probably dishes. The upper surface is decorated with a yellow and dark brown slip which has been trailed and combed. The fabric is highly fired, and is a buff colour with red slipped exterior surface.
Slip ware dates to the mid 17th to 19th century.

A body fragment of a Samian ware vessel. The exterior is decorated with a galloping horse, only the head, torso and front legs are visible. The surface has a shiny dark red/orange surface at the base and becomes a dark brown towards the upper edge. The fabric is a fine orange colour. It weighs 11.1g.
Samian Ware dates to the 1st to mid 3rd century.

A body fragment of a Samian ware vessel. The exterior is decorated with a row of ‘egg-and-tongue’ (ovolo) pattern with a fragment of an oval border. With a beaded line between. The surfaces have a shiny dark red/orange surface and the fabric is a fine orange colour.
The ovolo decoration is found on Samian Ware Forms 30 and 37 which are a type of deep dish. This decoration dates the vessel to c. 69 to 110 AD.

The sherd is a rim fragment of a bowl. The rim has a flange which has high-relief moulded decoration consisting of a trailed leaf. The rim is slightly curved in profile. The fabric is Samian ware, and has a fine brown/red colour with a shiny red surface. It weighs 3.35g.
Webster (Webster, P. 1996 ‘Roman Samian Pottery in Britain’ Practical Handbook in Archaeology 13 CBA) describes the form and decoration as Curle 11, with a ‘B’ type rim. This rim is therefore thought to date to the Flavian period. Curle 11 was produced until the c.140s, according to Webster.

The sherd is a fragment of a body of an unknown type of vessel.
The fabric is hard and fine. It is a light buff/orange colour and has a red/brown slip in varying densities on the surfaces. It may be an Oxfordshire Colour Coat Ware.
The sherd has been moulded to create the decoration on the exterior surface. This decorated consists of a small high relief, slightly pointed dome and a curved fine ridge. Young (Young, C. The sherd is a base fragment of an unknown vessel. The sherd is made from Samian Ware, suggesting the vessel is a table vessel, rather than for utilitarian purposes. Samian Ware was imported into Britain from the mid 1st to mid 3rd century (Webster, P. 1996 ‘Roman Samian Pottery in Britain’ CBA Practical Handbook 13).

The sherd is a portion of the rim of a dish. The rim is moulded with a scalloped edge.
The fabric is a pale orange colour with occassional voids within the fabric.
The upper surface of the sherd has been decorated with brown and cream slip. The cream slip provides the background, the brown slip forms oblique strips. Over the slip there is a honey-coloured glaze. The glaze does not reach the edges of rim.

One moulded rim sherd. The rim is delicate and flares outwards slightly, similar to a plate. The decoration is on the upper surface of the rim and is a leaf representation. The fabric is orange coloured throughout with frequent micaeous inclusions.

The sherd is a spout from a Samian mortarium of Form 45. The spout has a zoomorphic face representing a lion. The face is in high-relief, and applied to the exterior surface. The spout is the open mouth of the lion. The face is surrounded by radiating incised lines radiating at oblique angles. The sherd is slightly abraded.

A body sherd of a Samian ware bowl. There are no inclusions within the pale red fabric. The interior and exterior of the sherd is a brown/red shiny surface.
