A complete knapped lithic implement of the late Neolithic to early Bronze Age period, probably dating from c. 2400 BC - c. 1600 BC. The object is probably a secondary flake removed from a larger core, and then subjected to further working, and was probably used as a scraper tool. The object is broadly D shaped in plan and broadly triangular in section. On the ventral face the striking platform is evident at the base of the proximal end, there is a small bulb of percussion and shallow, but clear, conchoidal ripple marks on the surface, suggestive of the use of a soft hammer when strik…

A worked flint tool, probably an early Bronze Age plano-convex knife. The striking platform is clearly visible where the blade was struck from its core, and there is a clear bulb of percussion and bulb scar on the ventral face of the flint, caused by the pressure when struck. The flint has been subject to invasive pressure flaking on the dorsal face, although this does not extend to cover the whole face and is limited to the tip and edges of the flint. A small amount of flaking has occurred from the ventral face, but this is limited to a few flakes. The tool measures 47.5 mm long, 24.…

Knapped flint scraper on a re-used primary flake. Possibly bronze age in date. Mass: 9.3g; length: 25.8mm; width: 27.1mm; thickness: 12.3mm. Gray/brown coloured flint. Dorsal face is approximately 50% cortex, with retouch around approximately 75% of the edge. There is a white patina covering the ventral face. A similar patina is evident on the dorsal face, although where the flake has been retouched, the (unpatinated) brown/grey flint is evident – indicating that this scraper is manufactured from a re-used flake.
