An incomplete Neolithic polished axehead, dating to the period 3500 BC- 2200 BC. This appears to be the tip and most of the body, but as the cutting edge has broken off it is unclear how much of this is the original axehead. What remains is broadly oblong in shape, measuring 111.26mm in length, 52.92mm wide and 33.22mm thick, though it tapers to 7.33mm at the tip. In colour, the axehead is creamy-white, with patches of mid grey and flecks of light brown. The axehead is very smooth, heavily polished, with an abrupt break at the bottom, and small, scaled retouch or chipping on the left …

A fragment of a flint Neolithic polished axe head broken and possibly untilised as a core or a scraper dating to the period c. 4000-2350 BC. The original axe head was a Clough type B lenticular or double-convex polished axe head. The break was then used as a striking platform for the removal of bladelets. Three arrises are visible on the dorsal side of the axe-head. Part of the original cutting edge is still visible along the distal edge, however, the majority of the distal edge has been invasively retouched, removing the cutting edge and squaring the chunk off.

A complete Neolithic polished flint axehead (4000 BC-2100 BC).
This axehead is narrow and slender. It is pointed oval in plan and side view. The upper half has been flaked on both sides and the lower half is polished. It is possible that the axehead was originally polished overall and may have been remodelled by flaking over the polished area. In plan and side view, the polished part tapers inwards towards the evenly curved cutting edge. Each side of the polished part has been flattened by polishing.
This implement is mottled light grey and off-white
The axehead is 103.65m…
