The pointed butt end of a Neolithic polished stone axe. The cutting end of the axe has snapped of in antiquity, possibly at a point of weakness visible in the break. The entire remaining fragment has a heavy patina of buff-brown colour with no recent damage precluding a view of the original colour of the flint. Because this is the butt end of the axe, the polishing has not penetrated into every flaked hollow leaving some neagtive flake scars.
