Object type: BORER
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Tertiary hard hammer, sub-triangular struck flake, of brown/orange patinated flint, one long side of the flake is the “step” of hinged flake scar, this has made a long lip along this edge, the opposing long edge has fine retouch or use wear along its edge, the platform has been neatly trimmed from the dorsal face to straighten it. Possibly a boring tool or a drill that may have been intended to be hafted. Neolithic, possibly early, 4,000 to 3,000 BC.

Object type: ARROWHEAD
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Small barbed and tanged arrowhead of Green, H, S, (1980) type Sutton b, with the barbs just shorter than the tang, made from a struck flake, unusually with the bulb of percussion originally orientated at the tang (they tend to be orientated to the point), the concentric ripples to the ventral face are somewhat exaggerated. The flint is now patinated orange/brown from contact with iron oxides in the soil, The main shaping was quickly pressure flaked to a fairly steep angle, as opposed to the invasive pressure flaking on larger examples; this is probably due to the small size of the arro…

Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Secondary, hard hammer struck flake, of brown/orange patinated flint with sandy grey coloured cortex extant to the distal end of the dorsal face, the cortex is removed towards the proximal end by two previously struck hinged flake scars, the distal end itself is steeply retouched in the conventional fashion to form the semi-circular scraping edge, both lateral edges are left without retouch, bulb transversely snapped and missing. Neolithic, 4,000 to 2,350 BC.
