The burin has been formed at the distal point with the removals creating a point 2mm high. A small area of low angled, scaled, semi-invasive retouch to one of the distal shoulders has produced a notch that could also be utilised as a tool. A small, triangular shaped flake, light brown in colour with both lighter and darker inclusions. On the dorsal edge there is a previous flake scar that has been broken sharply and the flint then probably turned to be reworked. A possible striking platform at the proximal end of the ventral side is apparent, with some evidence of the longer medial edge showing retouch. Late Mesolithic to early Neolithic secondary honey flint multi platform core with some fine retouch. The presence of residual chalk on the cortex indicates the flint is derived from a 'mined' source. It also shows that the original nodule was imported into the area in its raw state with the cortex largely intact. The paucity of good quality flint in the area is probably why the core has been worked outward toward the cortex.
