An incomplete and misshapen gold dental plate of Modern date (c. 1825-c. 1950).
Prior to being misshapen the plate would have been roughly semi-circular in plan. It has a straight side which would have been at the back of the mouth and a curved side that was at the forward position. The plate is made from swaged gold - a sheet of gold was placed over a model and shaped in palate form using a horn mallet.
