Long struck stone blade (flake). It is made from a 'tuff' which is a metamorphosed sedimentary stone of particularly fine texture. That is to say, the stone was originally sedimentary but has been altered by later geological processes (as opposed to a purely volcanic stone such as at the axe factory site at Graig Lwyd). The blade has been snapped off at both ends. The back of the blade probably represents the original surface of the worked stone. Very large blade fragment. 128 (incomplete) x 32 x 9mm. Dark grey weathered to a creamy grey. Recent damage shows a coarse material, most likely Mynydd Rhiw tuff. Retains some natural(?) fracture surface. Unworked.
Assessment:
Certainly not a waste product of axe manufacture but probably Later Neolithic. Other similar large blades have been found at Parwyd, Llyn, PRN 3296.

Assessment:
Probably Mesolithic. A flint core (PRN7063) is recorded on the HER found just 30m to the SW of the current object.
