Debitage blade, dating to Mesolithic Period - Neolithic (c. 9000 - c. 2200 BC). Transluscent brown flint with some white spots. Tertiary blade, ripple marks visible on ventral face but the bulb of percussion is missing, suggesting that the blade has been broken. Possible retouching (short, stepped, low-angle) on the dorsal face, but this is only visible over a short distance (14mm) at the proximal end, and is among several other irregular marks which suggest it may just be damage instead. Retouch (short, stepped, low-angle) visible only at the distal end of the ventral face, but is ab…

Object type: LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Nottinghamshire
Workflow stage: Published
A complete knapped lithic implement of probably the Neolithic to Bronze Age period, dating from c.4000BC - c. 800BC.
The object is probably a secondary flake removed from a larger core, and then subjected to further working. The object is broadly semi circular in plan and triangular in section. Around 30% of the cortex still remains on the left side of the dorsal face. The dorsal face shows evidence of striking from multiple platforms for the removal of small flakes or chips at varying angles. All scars exhibit evidence of conchoidal ripple marks in the surface, most of these are q…
