A complete knapped gun-flint from a flintlock musket of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1600 - 1900. The flint is retangular in shape, and trapezoid in cross section, and has been worked around the edges of the flint. The flint is a light grey brown colour, with white patches. It measures 32.3mm in length, 27.5mm in width, 7.8mm in thickness, and weighs 10.24g.
The gunflint is similar to YORYM-5F5645, which explains that 'the flintlock was first used from the mid 16th century and became part of the main regulation firearm for the British army during the reign of William III. The knapped …
