A sherd of a Post-Medieval wheel thrown ceramic vessel, possibly an example of yellow ware (dating 1550-1600). The outer surface is unglazed and pink-toned, with a coarse texture. The inner surface has a yellow-coloured glaze and various brown spots are visible. The fabric is abraded and has quartz inclusions. The sherd seems to have formed part of a base, perhaps of a large bowl, as the outer surface curves upwards from a flat segment.

A fragment of a post-Medieval roof tile of earlier date (c.1500-1700 AD).  The fragment is unpatterned, sub-rectangular in plan and slightly curved with a raised concave pattern. The raised parts may in fact be part of the tile's edge decoration. Both the interior and exterior is light orange with darker orange edges. Its core is grey, with very fine inclusions. It has even so slight traces of a brown-red glaze. Measurements: Length 35.28mm, width 28.36mm, thickness 7.10mm and weighs 7.76 g.

A fragment of Early Medieval (Late Saxon) ceramic vessel, dating to c. AD 900-1000. The pottery sherd is Michelmersh type. It is thin-walled, oxidised with stamped, applied strip decoration. The applied strip appears to be in the form of an X shape and are motifs of four dots, unevenly spaced, pricked into the strip.   Dimensions: length: 52.2mm; width: 43.2mm; thickness: 7.6mm; weight: 24.79g. A sherd of a ceramic Vessel of Roman date (AD 43-200). The sherd is probable of Gaulish Samian ware. This example is probably from vessel of Dragendorff 18-31, a bowl or dish. The rim sherd has a small projecting rolled lip. The body has repeating concentric circular grooves around the outer surface. The fabric is grey in colour with no visible inclusions. There is a minor amount of glossy orange glaze retained under the rim, and the surface has been fragmented, with three sections of the sherd retained.   Height: 48.46mm, Width: 46.26mm, Thickness: 8.03mm, Weight: 16.9g

Fragment of a base and side wall.  The fabric is hard and fine textured, buff coloured throughout, with grey sooting on the base. The gritty fabric has frequent, fairly well sorted, angular quartz inclusions which break the surface. It is probably a gritty ware. The object is irregularly shaped in plan, but is roughly trapezoidal with two sub-triangular projections at the bottom, tapering from 70.11mm wide to 43.79mm wide just before the projections and 28.19mm wide before the tips of the projections. A ceramic vessel fragment; a base and wall sherd of Roman greyware dating from AD 43 - 410. The fabric is hard, fine and dark grey in the core, but lighter grey to buff on the outer faces with an area of orange. It has frequent well sorted angular quartz inclusions. The base has a diameter of 180mm and about 12% of the perimeter survives. The wall is at an angle of about 70 degrees from the base. The sherd is 85.1mm long, 32.8mm high and the base is 14.2mm thick while the wall is 10.3mm thick. 65.5g.

A  roughly triangular fragment of a Roman ceramic pot being part of the rim and the base. The surface is grey in colour, darker on the outer surface. the cross section shows the interior to be grey. The outer surface has  scattered inclusions, possibly iron which may have been part of the decoration. The surfaces are hard, cant be scratched with a fingenail.The surfaces are rough. Width 59.95mm, height 51.50mm, thickness of rim 9.82mm, thickness  of body 6.97mm, weight 31.14 mm. Diameter12cm judged from rim chart.
