A body sherd of a ceramic vessel; reduced greyware pottery, likely dating to the Roman or Medieval period. The fabric is light grey throughout. It is hard, fine textured and the edges are abraded. Thre are frequent small well sorted quartz and black rounded (iron ore?) inclusions. The sherd is 51.11mm long, 37.83mm wide, 9.2mm thick and weighs 16.32g.

Two sherds of pottery (ceramic vessel) recovered through unsystematic field walking. The sherds are abraded.
1) A sherd of reduced ware fabric, either Roman or Medieval in date. Grey fabric, hard, fine texture, frequent well sorted quartz inclusions.
2) A sherd of pink, oxidised ware fabric, fading to orange on the outer face, either Roman or Medieval in date. hard fabric, fine texture, frequent quartz (and feldspar?) inclsuions with some black specks (coal measures?).

A rim sherd from a sheel made grey ware vessel. This has smooth outer and inner surfaces which a dark grey colour seen throughout the sherd. The rim is plain and rounded. From this the sherfd thickens and then thins slightly before turning inwards. It is decorated with two parallel grooves placed just below the rim and then a riased rib placed just before the break.
About 10% of the original rim, which was c.165mm in diameter.
The sherd is 72.4mm long, 54.6mm wide,7.5mm thick at the rim and weighs 42.89 grams.

A rim sherd from a coarse hard orange red grey fabric with frequent small grit inclusions, (<0.1 to 0.2mm). Only the rim survives which is too small to determine the vessel's original diameter. Its upper surface is decorated by two grooves seperated by a convex ridge that would have run the circumfrence of the vessel. The sherd is 28.6mm long, 28mm wide,16.8mm thick at the rim and weighs 16.4 grams.

Only the rim survives which is too small to determine the vessel's original diameter. The sherd is 31mm long, 29.8.mm wide,16.8mm thick at the rim and weighs 14.81 grams.
